The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has urged the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream I corps members to sustain the spirit of patriotism, hard work and resilience as they begin their service year.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the orientation course held today at Yobe state permanent orientation camp Dazigau, General Ahmed, represented by the State Coordinator NYSC, Abdulsalam Alhassan commended the corps members for their active participation and high level of discipline throughout the program.

“You have been trained to be ambassadors of Nigeria and to contribute positively to national development,” he said. “Integrate into your host communities, respect local cultures and avoid meddling in local politics.”

he Director-General emphasized the importance of community development service projects, urging corps members to undertake initiatives that uplift the living standards of their host communities.

He also warned against security risks, advising corps members to be vigilant and avoid acts that could endanger their lives, such as staying out late or accepting rides and gifts from strangers.

General Ahmed thanked the Federal Government, State Governments, Local Government Councils, security agencies, traditional rulers, corps employers and other stakeholders for their support in the success of the NYSC operations.

The corps members will proceed to their Places of Primary Assignment after receiving their letters of posting. The NYSC Management has assured that necessary provisions will be made for their security and welfare.
